I am pleased to welcome you to AMPLA, the peak body for lawyers working in the Australian resources and energy sectors. As an organisation, AMPLA strives to enhance the understanding of the myriad of Australian and international laws that impact upon this sector. It has a long and distinguished history of doing so. Since its founding in 1976, it has continued to provide real leadership with respect to contemporary issues in resources and energy law. It has done this through the hard work of its members and friends who generously give their time for this purpose: It performs this service though its National Conference, seminars organised by State branches, the production of its peer reviewed Australian Resources and Energy Law Journal (ARELJ) and, in recent years, the publication of a suite of industry leading model documents. If you have an interest in this area, I encourage you to participate in AMPLA as a member and, if you have the time, through any of its State branches or by presenting seminars or providing articles for the ARELJ. I can guarantee you that, from my own experience, you will be much the richer for it.
Finally, I hope to see you at the 2015 National Conference in October in wonderful Perth.
